Mock Turtle by DarkJimbo Mock Turtle by DarkJimbo
Clumsy, self-doubting, a little uncomfortable in his own skin - I always found a lot to empathise with in this poor chap.

"Hello sweet-heart, would like to go on a pinic with me?" that is would I would say to Mock Turtke if I ever ran into him in Wonderland.

Bless him. I'm sure a little love and understanding would bring him out of his shell, so to speak...

I am sure it would.  Everyone needs a little smile now and then to perk them up and brighten their day. :)

The mock turtle is one of my fav characters in the Alice series. It was awesome to see him in the contest. Not only that, but your line-less style is amazing, too!

My line-less style came into being for this very picture! Never worked without lines before this, and it was a daunting prospect, but I'm glad it gets the thumbs up! :-)

I love when people use the under-rated characters!! Very original!

Thanks - I've always been a sucker for the under-used characters, the guys on the fringes that most people don't remember so well. Sums me up, I suppose!

Yah! Something Lewis Original, not Hollywood Butchered! Great pic, while still bright and colourful still so melencholy and touching.. my only thing I would change would be maybe more shadow on/behind/around the rock

Aw, thanks. :)

I must admit to being a bit glad that he didn't make it into either the Burton or Disney films; likewise the White Knight from Looking Glass, another favourite character.

I'm so glad you picked up on the melancholy aspect. You may well be right about the rock needing more shadows, too.

It's the little details that make this picture great - looks more like a painting than anything. There are no lines - ! NO LINES! It's driving me maaaaad - !

You've no idea how simultaneously frightening and yet liberating I found working with no lines - it's not something I really like to do, but I opened PShop, started having a little doodle and thought 'Hmm, this is going well, could be on to something here.'

Can't believe how relatively quickly I finished it either! One good day's work.
