Space Girl by DarkJimbo Space Girl by DarkJimbo
A sketch of a random space girl that seemed to gradually become Zoe Herriot from '60s Doctor Who, on which I have been geeking out recently.

I'm noticing that my pencil lines are becoming more and more obsolete in my more recent stuff, which is unexpected but fairly liberating.

Thanks for accepting my submission request! In my memories, zoe was a bit thinner, but... oh well, she's none the sexier. XD

Well thanks for wanting it in the gallery! This didn't specifically start out as a Zoe picture, so I wasn't worried about capturing an exact likeness - I suppose it's a bit of an idealized version!

She's just oodles of cute, though - I drew her again for a Second Doctor piece I did more recently - [link] Love to know what you think!

What I think? Well, you made me wonder in your gallery for good this time and I hope that I targeted all second-related fanarts. And I would be glad if you were to accept to decorate my group's wall again :D!

I liked the fact that not only have you given Zoe a new outfit, but that you have given her a ray gun!!!!

Those Cybermen (and what not) had better watch out as kick ass Zoe is now in town!

May I add that this is the best pic that I've seen of my fave Dr Who girl in a long time.

Yeah, I know she never had a raygun or the like in the series, but the picture seemed to call for her to be holding something and this seemed to fit with those lovely kitsch ideas of 'the future' that we saw in 60's Who.

Oh, I absolutely love Zoe. Surely the cutest of all Who companions.

OMG - this is awesome! :w00t: I absolutely love your art syle, DarkJimbo. Which story did Zoe wear this hot little number in, I don't recall?

Zoe is my most favourite companion, joint with Nyssa (I can't decide between them - why should I have to? :D).

I would love to see your take on the floaty dress that Miss Heriot wore in "The Dominators". :D Please?

Thanks!

Lesse... it was either in 'The Krotons' or 'The Space Pirates' that she wore this, I think. I've only recently started watching 60s Who, so I'm still learning. :-)

Hmm, it must be "The Space Pirates" then, 'cos I have a complete copy of "The Krotons" (my dad recorded it off the telly when it repeated in 1980).

O, and the outfit that I was suggesting you might like to draw Zoe in is this one (a rather less than flattering expression from the otherwise very lovely Miss Padbury, but I hope you get the idea): [link]

I had the good fortune to meet her at one convention (Coventry, 1999 I think), she's an absolutely lovely lady.

Ah, right. That's a crazy outfit! Looks like a paper skirt.

I took a look at some of the amazing Zoe art in your gallery and I can't believe you like my effort (flattered though I am that you do)! I didn't even try for a halfway decent likeness!

Actually I believe it WAS a paper skirt, IIRC they couldn't run up a costume out of fabric quickly enough so they had to make it out of paper (and keep remaking it each morning) as The Dominators was written at short notice to replace another script that had been dumped.

Thank you! But I don't draw....everything in my gallery is art that I commissioned from people who CAN draw - like yourself. :D And while yours is not a realistic portrait, it DOES still capture Zoe's beauty and charm *very* well.

WOW OH WOW!!! Zoe in artwork in one of the outfits I loved seeing her in!!! Thanks so much!!! :D
It's a crying shame that only one episode of the story she wore this costume in only exists. :(
I hope you have more art of Zoe dressed like this on the way! They would most definitely be getting added to my favourites! :)

I fell a little bit in love with whatever anonymous costume designer came up with this nifty little number for Zoe - it's just lovely and cool and kitsch, and also a little bit daring for the time (I assume - look at those thighs!)

Dunno if I'll be drawing her again, but I keep toying with the idea of doing the rest of the Second Doctor crew - it's just a fabulous era of the show, and the Doctor/Jamie/Zoe combo is a bit of a dream team.

I'd love to draw Victoria (almost as cute as Zoe) and Polly had a certain something, too. Man, Troughton had the best companions!

 Erm... I did promise, didn't I? It's coming, it's definately coming, but, um, I'm just not sure when exactly... Hopefully it'll be good stuff, though.

On a related note, have you ever read Boy in Darkness? Discovering 'new' Gormenghast stuff has given me a rather giddy thrill of pleasure.

Look forward to seeing your new stuff! Got a weird Gorm comic strip thing I made ages ago, still havn't edited it to submit it yet though, might do soon.

Yes! Read it a couple of months ago for the first time, I felt like that too. What a nightmare it was, I really liked how dark it got.

This is fucking fabulous.

Phasing out of the basic lines works well in a 'vintage' picture such as this one. Adds a soft antique feel to it. Great pose - keep it coming.
